“YOUR BLOOD FREEZES IN YOUR VEINS”
NAME: Moriarty Vance Faustus[/b]: Mori, Mr. Faustus
[/ul]AGE: Thirty
GENDER: Male
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Homosexual (acts pansexual)
RACE: Elemental
[/ul]
POSITIVE PERSONALITY:
INTELLECTUAL. Yes, it's safe to say that he's actually got some brains to boast about. Though he may often seem a bit like he's daydreaming or preoccupied, his mind is always at work. Just as he's creative, he's also very calculating and cunning. While he may offer a little smile, the gears in his skull are usually turning as he contemplates every situation he's placed in. He finds something to ponder concerning everyone he meets. He's also a learned man, having grown up to a family of wealth and luxury where he could afford to take long trips to Egypt, Italy, Peru, New Zealand... He's fascinated by cultures and customs and, as something of a curious artist, he pieces together all civilizations through the connection of artwork. Such is why he teaches Art History. He loves to read and fill his head with knowledge, but he also loves living it; breathing all the interesting facts he consumes with delight. He's not someone you can easily take advantage of or confuse easily. He's smart and he knows it.
CALM Mori feels no need to rush or panic. He comes off as very at ease, very languid. It's because there isn't much that really shocks or unnerves him. He's a fairly laidback individual and he usually takes everything in stride. He sees no reason to get worked up over things that can easily be fixed or bent to fit his favor. It takes a lot to get under his skin and he's often quite content dealing even with those persistent types who insist on digging against his solid resolve. Even when he's excited, it doesn't really show. If anything, he'll smirk or smile with a light little laugh. But to see him ecstatic, enraged, or depressed... it's very uncommon. Moriarty doesn't like to get anxious. So, to resolve this problem, he simply chooses not to. In his eyes, all the world's a stage. Where's the fun in the show if it's taken too seriously?
CHARISMATIC. Oh, yes. He can be quite the charming fellow sometimes. Sure, it's an odd sort of charm... but a charm nonetheless. He doesn't radiate aloof, anti-social behavior. No, not at all. Instead, he seems quite kind and approachable. He was raised to be that way and he follows through beautifully. Not because he feels he has to, as is his duty as a wealthy "gentleman," but because he actually likes seeming that way. He's a man who smiles and grins rather than sports a surly frown, always eager to invite guests over to his flat and entertain them without complaint. He usually has a warm aura around him, speaking in a soft voice and usually standing in very neutral, calm postures. Moriarty isn't necessarily a gentleman, exactly, but he can certainly offer companionship to those who reach out for it. He doesn't come off as cold or uninviting despite whatever strange, twisted thoughts lurking in the back of his head. He usually extends a considerate, polite appearance to appeal to those around him and always with a little smile on his face.
EXPERIENCED At age thirty, he's not exactly old or anything. But he's also not some naive teenager anymore. He's traveled, he's loved, he's hated, he's lost, he's won, he's wanted, he's hated... And it's through experience that we learn and grow. With Mori, it's no exception. Should you dig deep through his eccentricities, there's something of a potential philosopher in there somewhere. He's rarely caught off guard or shocked because he's had plenty of opportunities to prepare for it through various experiences. His cunning, his charisma... it's all thanks to the twists and turns life have led him on. Again, he's that old. Thirty is barely scraping the surface of a lifespan, really. However, Moriarty has dealt with strange, changing things in his thirty years of living. And, because of them, he's been shaped into what he is today. He usually knows what to expect of people and situations nowadays, finding no real surprise in most "dramatic" events or bumps in the road. Instead, he takes interest in the seemingly smaller, insignificant details. Perhaps that's why a lot of people fail to understand the way he thinks.
[/ul]NEGATIVE PERSONALITY:
MASOCHISTIC. Even when he knows it's frowned upon, he has always had this addiction to pain. At first, he thought he liked it when he watched it experienced through others and worried (only vaguely) that he had sadistic tendencies. He's come to realize, however, that he's actually more the masochist than the sadist. When he was younger, he'd nick his fingers on scissors, rose thorns, and any other mildly-sharp objects he came in contact with. Pain excites him where everything else might seem a little lackluster. It's not that he's numb to the world or anything. He just seems to get a kick out of pain. The sensation itself fascinates him; the different ranges and levels to the feelings inflicted on the body. He's not a doctor or anything, but the human body has always interested him. This is one of the reasons he took up an interest in art and its history. The human form is so easily appreciated through paintings and sculptures... and, in his opinion, pain. This isn't something he necessarily broadcasts to the world, however. It's merely an unfortunate quirk of his usually only discovered by his friends and various lovers. Yes, the latter would certainly learn to know this easily enough.
LICENTIOUS. Not all the time, mind you, but there's sometimes an odd side to him that can't help but get a thrill off of a few little love games. Sometimes, he'll just flirt in a sense of good humor; nothing serious, but just for the fun of twisting a few words with his tongue. But other times, he'll actually be quite the suggestive libertine with a sly smirk wound along his lips. He appreciates beauty in pretty much everything and most certainly in other human beings. He likes to admire the sensuality in a person; even feed off it and crave it like a drug. Though he isn't exactly the type to dabble in slutty affairs, he's not indifferent toward his own carnal desires. He sometimes thinks he's a bit manipulative, trying to wrap people around his finger... but he often finds himself wrapped in even more; lustful for one more hit. It's something that doesn't really appear unless a peculiar interest has been sparked inside him, but this wanton side of him will rear its ugly head if he's hooked. Calm though he is, this is often the itch he can't scratch. Even relaxed, bemused Moriarty hates that awful feeling.
TWO-FACED He seems charismatic. But, true to form, Mori isn't at all what he first seems. He may wear smiles and spoil you with praise, but he could very well be disgusted or unimpressed. He's good at donning masks, you see. He'll play the role of attentive friend or proud teacher when there's really distaste running thin behind each word. Or he'll say one thing to your face and then, of course, tell a different story to someone else. He doesn't consider himself a liar, though. He merely enjoys keeping up with his charismatic impression. Why have people fret over his own opinion of them if it won't matter in the long wrong? Though not one to complain much, he could happily slandering your name behind your back without a care in the world. He may seem like it, but he's not very trustworthy. Not with just anyone, anyway. He isn't quick to distribute trust so he figures it's quite reasonable that others shouldn't trust him, either. Which isn't to say he'd discourage someone for trusting him. The easier they trust, the better they are to toy with now and then.
ECCENTRIC. Some might consider this a "positive" trait, but it's really more a hinderance to him than anything else. He really is an oddball. He enjoys strange things like singing softly to himself while wandering the school grounds or braiding flowers into his hair (though this usually only happens when he is alone... usually, anyway). It sort of distances himself from others, even he seems so charming. Though smart and experienced, he sometimes seems to drift into his own little world with quirks galore. He's never very intent on acting cold, distant, or all together too aloof, but he sometimes is without even meaning it. He simply views things differently and succumbs to his own enigmatic behavior. Calm and clever, yes, but he's sometimes got his head in the clouds without even meaning to.
[/justify][/ul]HOBBIES: reading, writing, taking long walks, singing
FEARS: birds, absolute silence, deep emotion, quicksand, being buried alive, dying due to illness or disease
AMBITIONS: to grasp more and more knowledge (particularly the world's histories and their gruesome details), travel every little nook there is to explore, master more abilities with his element (including those that may pose lethal), play piano in a remote place of the world just for the fun of it, and learn to cook better.
POWER TITLE: Undine
Over the years, Moriarty has tried to do what he can to perfect his manipulation over water to the best of his own styles and abilities. He can effectively bend water to suit his wills and, because of this, he usually always keeps a flask of water on his person somewhere. As a strange man, he sometimes just uses it to play with between his hands and fingers; letting the water flow like a snake slithering over his palms and treating it with odd affection. But he can also wield it dangerously. He can lash it out like a whip or pelt it like quick, non-lethal bullets. Then, of course, there's turning it into ice. It's a technique he's been trying to strengthen since he was much younger and, finally, he seems to have a better hand over it. He can solidify liquids into ice if he concentrates hard enough and, in turn, meld the ice into sharper "bullets" of sorts. Surprisingly enough, he's actually more dangerous when using water in its "pure" form. Why? Because he's actually learned that it can be used to "drown"someone, melding water over their face until they pass out. Not only that, but he's secretly wondered if it's possible to manipulate the water inside of human bodies, too. It's a very long stretch and he hasn't tried such a thing (seeing as it would most likely be frowned upon), but it's a thought that has come to his mind on many occasions. Nevertheless, he is not an elemental to be taken lightly. Should you be in a pool of water, you're in even worse luck. He'll try and form waves, whirlpools, or rip-tides all to suit whatever he might have in mind at the moment. Should he be forced to manipulate the water constantly over a long period of time, however, he'll grow tired. It takes a lot of focus, after all. Usually, he'll just be playing with the water between his hands and fingers, humming to himself and only occasionally letting some of it lash out at someone for a quick laugh.
